DeKALB — NIU Police and Public Safety Department officials are warning community members to take precautions to avoid auto burglary after recent incidents, according to an April 26 NIU Safety Bulletin.

Suspects stole items and left car windows shattered after five auto burglaries in NIU parking lots W, O and X. These parking lots are located behind New Residence Hall and Grant Resident Hall off of Grant Drive and Annie Glidden Road.

Precautions to avoid auto burglary include locking doors and rolling up windows, parking in well-lit areas and placing valuable items out of sight, according to the safety bulletin.
