DeKALB | Police officials arrested and charged the person responsible for shots fired at an apartment window Monday morning.

Creashon Ross, 21, of DeKalb, fired shots at the bedroom window in the 800 block of Kimberly Drive because he believed the owner of the home had harassed him. The victim, who was not home at the time, was not the person Ross intended to target, according to a March 15 press release by the DeKalb Police Department. The intended target lives in a different residence.

The victim arrived home around 1:30 p.m. after which police responded to the incident.

DeKalb police were able to identify the shooter’s vehicle with footage from privately owned surveillance cameras. The vehicle and its occupants were located Tuesday in the FasMart parking lot, 125 N. Annie Glidden Road.

Ross, who had two outstanding warrants for his arrest, was taken into custody. A search warrant was issued for his apartment, in which police found ammunition consistent with that found at the crime scene.

Ross was charged with aggravated discharge of a firearm and unlawful possession of ammunition without a FOID card.

Commander Robert Redel was not immediately available for comment.
