On Friday, about 130 crosses were lined up near the Holmes Student Center bus turnaround all the way to the Founders Memorial Library. The crosses represent the shooting victims of Chicago in 2017 so far.

Over 50 people attended the the prayer vigil held for the victims on Friday near the MLK Commons. The vigil featured Greg Zanis, a 66-year-old retired carpenter who made the crosses and other crosses for victims of homicide nationwide. Zanis said he has been doing this for about 20 years. Zanis also had the opportunity to give the crosses back to the family members overcoming the loss of their loved one due to the violence in Chicago.
