The DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office and DeKalb Police Department, which conducted a joint investigation, arrested Emily Jones, 20, of DeKalb and Raymont Williams, 20, of DeKalb, on charges involving possession of illegal drugs and firearms Feb. 7.

The search turned up two illegal handguns and over two ounces of marijuana.

“Two illegal firearms were taken off the streets because of the search,” Sullivan said.

Williams was charged with unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of firearm without a FOID card, possession of firearm by a felon, armed violence, unlawful possession of cannabis with intent to deliver and defacing a firearm ID, according to a press release.

A search warrant was obtained to investigate an apartment in the University Village Apartment Complex, 751 Russell Road, for a drug investigation. The search revealed indication of narcotics sales and the unlawful possession of multiple firearms.

“Criminal complaints have been filed with the DeKalb County States Attorney’s Office,” Sullivan said.

Williams was charged with driving on a suspended/revoked license, manufacturing/delivering cannabis 10 to 30 grams, possession of cannabis more than 2.5 grams and less than 10 grams and probation violation July 31, 2016.

“We’re proud of the work that the DeKalb County Police Department and the Sheriff’s Office conducted,” Sullivan said.
