DeKALB — No arrests have been made regarding the incident in which shots were fired around 11:32 p.m. Saturday in the 800 block of Edgebrook Drive.

Two males reportedly tried to enter an apartment. The resident opened the door and quickly closed it after seeing who was knocking because the resident anticipated conflict. The suspects then reportedly shot through the door of the apartment and fled in an unknown direction, DeKalb Police Commander Bob Redel said.

Nobody was injured in the apartment that was shot at, although the incident did appear to be targeted, Redel said. The victim was home with his girlfriend.

One suspect had dark skin and was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, and the other had dark skin and was wearing a red coat and red hat, according to a safety bulletin email sent 12:43 a.m. Sunday.

“We got some good video evidence we’re going through and, I mean, we’re still working it,” Redel said.

The NIU Police Department responded to the incident but referred the case to DeKalb police, NIU Sergeant Ray Holland said.
