DeKALB – Veterans Day will be celebrated at two locations. Everyone is invited to attend the remembrances of those who fought, and still fight, for our country.

NIU will hold a memorial from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the flagpole outside of Altgeld Hall. The Military & Post-Traditional Student Services and the NIU Veterans Association partnered to create this event. Alan Phillips, NIU Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, will be the featured speaker.

DeKalb County hosts a separate service at 3:30 p.m. outside the DeKalb County Courthouse, 133 W. State St., Sycamore. After this opening ceremony, a 24-hour Vigil will be held from 4 p.m. Friday to 4 p.m. Saturday.

Gun shots will be fired as an approved part of the ceremony that day.
