DeKalb favors transportation amendment
November 8, 2016
About 80 percent of voters in DeKalb County voted in favor of the “Safe Roads Amendment.”
The amendment, which was the only one on the ballot, will allow the state to reserve billions of dollars for transportation repairs for more than 10 years, according to a Nov. 6 Chicago Sun Times article. These repairs would focus on infrastructure.
About 79 percent of Illinois voters favored the amendment, also known as the “Lockbox Amendment,” as of 9:56 p.m. tonight.
The Illinois Chamber of Commerce and the Illinois Road and Transportation Builders Association formulated the amendment.
