October 28, 2016
Jesse White, Illinois Secretary of State, encourages sports fans to support the Cubs by purchasing Cubs themed license plates.
Each Chicago team license plate sale or renewal, including the Cubs, donates $25 to the Professional Sports Teams Education Fund, which supports Illinois public schools.
The Blackhawks were the first Chicago sports team to sell a license plate in 2010, and other teams followed suit.
Numbers of license plates sold for each team:
- Blackhawks: 20,418
- White Sox: 11,642
- Bears: 7,409
- Cubs: 6,733
- Bulls: 2,941
Personalized, random or vanity license plates are available for public purchase here. The prices vary for vanity and personalized license plates. Random number license plates for a currently titled vehicle with valid Illinois registration is $69.
