Community to collect winter wear to help DeKalb residents

By Northern Star staff

With cold weather approaching, the city and university are partnering to gather gently used winter clothing that could be distributed around the DeKalb community.

The Office of Student Engagement and Experiential Learning’s Huskie Service Scholars Program and the DeKalb Area Women’s Center started the drive Oct. 17 and will continue until Nov. 17.

Collection boxes are around the DeKalb area and can also be found within campus at:

  • Office of Student Engagement and Experiential Learning in Altgeld 100
  • The Campus Life Building lobby area
  • Grand Residence Hall lobby area
  • Academic Advising Center between the parking deck and Founder’s Memorial library
  • Military and Post-Traditional Student Services in Holmes 23K basement

Distribution to community members will be on Nov. 19 as part of Hunger and Homelessness awareness week.
