SHPE to sell chicken and corn today
September 7, 2016
Corn and Chicken will be served in Dusable Hall from 11 to 2 p.m. today as part of a fundraiser for the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers and B.R.O.T.H.E.R.S.
This is the first fundraiser these two organizations have done with each other. The Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers’ goal is to empower the Hispanic community through science, technology, engineering and mathematics, according to the societies website.
The group meets 6 p.m. Thursdays in the Engineering Building, Room 211. The society wants to create a place where people can feel part of a family while ensuring the members are prepared for the future by focusing on academic success, community outreach and professional and leadership development, according to its website.
The society was founded in 1974 in Los Angeles, California, by a group of engineers employed by the city of Los Angeles, according to its website.
