Gooden said there are always things that can be done to make life better for student athletes and that it is important for athletes to have a good start in everything they do.

“I think the intent of [the rule change] is good. The proverbial work-like balance for everybody is always something to talk about. The student athletes have really expressed how they’re trying to have the best possible experience and they feel that having some of these parameters and guidelines can be a positive thing for them. I think the student athletes, particularly the [Student-Athlete Advisory Committee] having a say is a very important thing. Hopefully the dialogue will continue so everybody will have the best experience possible. There will be some challenges but we will work through it.”
