Athletes react to MAC rule change

Richard Hall, senior defender men’s soccer
“I think [the rule change is] a fantastic thing. Basically, it is just trying to enhance the student experience, not taking away from anything athletically or academically. [The restrictions] are just giving athletes more time to recover, allowing them to be better in the classroom, the field and in the community. I think it is just going to help athletes get better recovered and have a better experience overall. I think people are starting to realize that athletes need to be managed just a little bit better.”
Hall said considering the size of the MAC, it is very impressive to be out in front of the NCAA with rule changes of this magnitude.
“I think it is very impressive what the MAC is doing, considering the size of us. I think the MAC Student-Athlete Advisory Committee has pushed forward to a national level, as [the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee] is pretty much in the forefront of most of the conferences. This should only lead to bigger and better things.”
