Lisa Carlsen, women’s basketball head coach

Carlsen said it is great that players and coaches are working together to make this change and that the two parties are not in any feud or disagreement. She knows it is important for athletes to speak out and have their voices be heard.
“I think that, conceptually, the rules make a lot of sense as far as the time demands we put on our kids and what we’re asking them to do. What we are going to find is that we are going to have to work through some things logistically. For the most part, coaches are on board as well as athletes for the right reasons. Anytime the [Student-Athlete Advisory Committee] gets together, it’s always good dialogue. Obviously, we want our student athletes to have a voice and for it to be heard and I think that forum is perfect. As things continue to be talked about, I think a coach’s perspective is also important.”
