Food insecurity movie to be shown at the Egyptian Theatre

“A Place At the Table” will be screened at 7 p.m. on Sept. 20 in the Egyptian Theatre for free toraise awareness about hunger and food insecurity in Dekalb County.
The film exhibits the foodinsecurities that both Dekalb and the U.S. experience. The event, appropriately held during Hunger Awareness Month, will begin with a greeting at 6 p.m. and end with a discussion at 8:30 p.m. The discussion will be moderated by Dan Kenney, executive director of Dekalb County Community Garden.
Topics that will be covered throughout the night include how to get involved in ending the hunger that people of Dekalb County face. What many will not realize before attending this event is how real of a problem hunger is in the area. Over 13,000 people in DeKalb County live without knowing how they will get their next meal. One in seven people in Illinois struggle with hunger.
Anyone who wants to learn about and help reverse the hunger struggle in Dekalb County should consider attending this screening and discussion.
