The price of parking permits incurs its first increase since 2011 in order to fund $5 million worth of identified parking lot repairs on campus.

Current permits will expire June 30. The increased price applies to new permits, which become valid July 1.

To reduce operational costs, online transactions for certain permits will be charged $10 less, according to an NIU announcement.

Green permits, which offer parking north of the Convocation Center in Lot C3, will now be free, although a permit still must be obtained.

Purchasing permits online is not available as of May 10 and the date which it will be has not been determined, according to an NIU announcement.

Permits can be purchased at Camping Parking Services starting June 1.
