Ten high school students from northern Illinois schools are competing in the Illinois High School Association Journalism Sectionals today in DuSable Hall.

The students are competing in broadcast news, news writing, review writing, advertising, theme development, caption writing, design, copy editing, and info graphic.

The event is proctored by Northern Star editors and staff, along with interested professionals participating as judges.

The winners of first, second and third place in each journalism contest event category will advance from the sectional to the state final.

Winning contestants will be announced at 3 p.m. today in DuSable Hall, room 204.
