April 1, 2016
The Art Museum will open an exhibition suite centered on the Art Deco period Thursday, according to an Art Museum news release.
The exhibition suite will show the energy, glitz and glamour of the Art Deco period, according to the news release.
There will be a reception hosted by the Office of the President to honor the opening of the exhibit from 5-7 p.m. Thursday in Altgeld Hall.
The exhibition suite will feature two major exhibitions: Between the Wars Contrasts, Parallels, Shifts and Patterns and the Beyond Gatsby and Common Luxury in American Art Deco, according to the news release. The exhibition suite will also hold two small exhibitions called The Chicagoan and the Deco and Art Moderne Architecture in Illinois.
“We have quite a bit of work to finish but we are excited to see the show and see all of that work come to fruition and see visitors be able to enjoy and experience the Art Deco period here at NIU,” said Stuart Henn, coordinator of marketing and education for the museum.
