Several DeKalb networks will hold a viewing and panel discussion of “He Named Me Malala” at 7 p.m. today at the Egyptian Theatre, 135 N. Second St.

The public event is sponsored by Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of DeKalb, Friends of Jane Adeny Memorial School for Girls, Dan Schewe, Nancy Proesel and the NIU Muslim Student Association.

The film takes place after the Taliban tries to kill teen Malala Yousafzai for speaking out on behalf of women’s education. Yousafzai appears as a leading supporter for children’s rights and the youngest-ever Nobel Peace Prize Laureate.
