Women’s tennis (5-7) traveled to Florida over spring break to play matches against Florida Gulf Coast University and Florida Atlantic University, losing both games and winning just one match.

The Huskies struggled with their first outdoor matches of the season. They fell to Florida Gulf Coast (6-7) 7-0 on Wednesday and lost to Florida Atlantic (10-6) in a 6-1 matchup on Thursday.

Junior Adey Osabuohien won her 10th singles match against Florida Atlantic after her nine-match winning streak was broken in the previous match.

“It was good to get outside in nice weather and play in those elements as we prepare for our upcoming MAC matches,” said NIU head coach Tanya Gombera, according to an NIU Athletics news release. “We definitely had a lot to take away from these contests and now know some key areas that we need to work on in preparation.”

The Huskies will return home this week as they are set to battle Bowling Green State University at 1 p.m. Friday in Rockford.
