DeKalb Police to hold lethal force discussion
March 4, 2016
DeKalb Police will hold a community demonstration and discussion about the use of lethal force by police officers.
The event will be from 1-4 p.m. March 12 at the DeKalb Police station, 700 W. Lincoln Highway, and will feature discussions on threat levels, mental illness, weapon recognition, the use of force, police training and school shootings.
Police officers will be present during the event to help respond to community members during the question and answer segment. Scenario-based training demonstrations will also be played out for community members.
“We hope that this event will provide a unique opportunity for all and stimulate a community conversation regarding the use of deadly force from a police perspective,” said DeKalb Police Chief Gene Lowery in an email to city staff, media and community members.
