Suspects arrested in 10th and Pleasant shooting

Update: Two victims with gunshot wounds were transported to Kishwaukee Community Hospital after a shooting was reported to have occurred on 10th and Pleasant streets Thursday, according to a DeKalb Police news release.
The off-campus shooting was reported to have occurred at 3:41 p.m. Thursday at 10th Street and Pleasant Street, according to an NIU safety bulletin.
A 16-year-old male from DeKalb was identified as a suspect shooter and arrested. Police located an unloaded gun magazine in the suspect’s home. The suspect was charged with two counts of aggravated battery with a firearm and mob action. The 16-year-old is currently being held at the Kane County Juvenile Detention Center, according to the news release.
Another suspect shooter, Christian Contreras, 19, of DeKalb, was charged with two counts of aggravated battery with a firearm and mob action. Contreras is currently being held at the DeKalb County Jail.
There is no known connection to NIU and no current threat to campus, according to the safety bulletin.
