County sheriff’s office to award $500 scholarship

DeKalb County Sheriff Roger Scott will be awarding one $500 scholarship to a DeKalb County resident pursuing higher education during the 2016-17 academic year, according to a DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office news release.

The scholarship can only be applied to tuition, books and fees and will be allocated when a student is enrolled full time at an Illinois institution of higher learning, according to the news release. To be eligible, the applicant must be a permanent resident of DeKalb County.

Applications, essays and documentation for the scholarship must be postmarked by March 15.
