Women’s tennis picks up first road victory

Women’s tennis (3-3) faced off against University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (3-4) on Saturday afternoon, edging out a 4-3 victory for its first road win.

The Huskies came into the game on a two-game losing streak after falling to Bradley University and Cleveland State University. The Panthers came into the game on a three-match winning streak.

Senior Cristina Alvarez earned her 100th career win and became the 13th member of the women’s tennis 100 club. The Huskies went winless in doubles matches, going 0-3 but making up for it with 4 singles wins.

NIU’s next contest will take place this week as it remains on the road, taking on Chicago State University at 2:30 p.m. Saturday in Chicago.
