Arrests made in connection to Ridge Drive shooting

Two arrests have been made in connection to an off-campus shooting reported to have occurred 3:24 a.m. Saturday in the 1000 block of Ridge Drive in DeKalb, according to a DeKalb Police news release.

Cordero Jackson, 20, was charged with unlawful use of a weapon, obstruction of justice and possession of a firearm without a FOID card. Jackson was arrested Saturday, according to the news release.

Maurice Williams, 20, was charged with aggravated battery with a firearm, unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon and two counts of aggravated discharge of a firearm. Williams turned himself into DeKalb Police on Sunday, according to the news release.

Both individuals were unable to post bond and are being held at the DeKalb County Jail.

An investigation discovered a fight broke out at a party in the 1000 block of Ridge Drive and a male pulled out a handgun and fired at several people, according to the news release.

A female victim, who had been shot, was taken to Kishwaukee Hospital as police arrived on the scene. The victim’s injuries were not life threatening.

The suspect then entered a vehicle which was later found unoccupied. Shell casings and other evidence were found on the scene. A handgun, believed to be used in the shooting, was recovered by police, according to the news release.
