“Don’t Stop Believin’” by Journey
Even though “Don’t Stop Believin’” by Journey is 34 years old, it is a classic “get up and go” song. This song is a great one to listen to when you’re getting stressed or frustrated while studying for tough exams. The motivational lyrics and upbeat tempo make this a perfect song to keep you going.
This semester, I have some very stressful final exams, and it’s always the first song I play when I need some inspiration. “Don’t Stop Believin’” is a classic known by many, and is definitely a great song to get you motivated.

“Strobe” by deadmau5
The 2009 song “Strobe” by deadmau5 has been one of my favorite songs to listen to during my many study sessions within the past four years of college. Something about “Strobe” motivates me. It’s such a beautiful song and it doesn’t have any lyrics, making it a great track to play in the background while you’re focusing on more important things. If you’re feeling down or uninspired while preparing for your finals, find a comfy spot in the library and put on “Strobe.”

“Stronger” by Kanye West
There’s nothing like adding a little Kanye West to your study playlist. The song “Stronger” from Kanye’s 2007 “Graduation” album has gotten me through many long hours of studying. I can even listen to it while getting ready, making it perfect for any occasion.
West’s lyrical abilities and up-beat sound make it easier for me to put an extra pep in my step when it comes to school work. The lyrics could pretty much pass for a motivational mascot. I almost feel as if my school work is talking to me as I listen to the lyrics, “I need you to hurry up now, cause I can’t wait much longer.”

“Confident” by Demi Lovato
Since it’s my last year at NIU, the itch to graduate in the spring is definitely getting to me. I’m a huge fan of anything I can dance to, but Demi Lovato’s “Confident” has to be my go-to song this year. It’s catchy, fierce and beautifully sung by one of my favorite artists. Lovato’s makes me strive to do better on my finals because of its catchy positive message. The song starts off with booming trumpets and strong horns. The anticipation of the drums in the background adds a sassy feel to the song.

“Jack Johnson Radio”
There is only one Pandora station that I go to while I study and that is Most of the songs that are played are chill, happy tunes. Songs like “Banana Pancakes” and “Better Together” are two of my favorites. This isn’t really motivating music per-say, but its very calm and soothing to study or finish up a big paper.
The best way I can describe why I choose to listen to the station is to de-stress during studying, which is not that enjoyable. Jack Johnson is no doubt my go to for studying.
