Take a break from all of the end-of-semester stress, and get involved with some exciting events happening around campus this weekend.
Today
Make sure you stop by Ellington’s as they present “Zesty Brassica,” 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the Holmes Student Center. Students can enjoy kale and brussel sprout salad topped off with toasted almonds and roasted pork loin with orange gastrique. Sides include cranberry quinoa stuffing, honey and rosemary infused roasted brussel sprouts and orange sponge cake with a chocolate ganache. The full-course meal costs $10 and includes a beverage of your choice.
The All University Jazz Band and Latin Jazz Ensemble will perform for the first time in a collaboration at 8 p.m. in the Music Building, Boutell Memorial Concert Hall. This concert is free and open to the public.
Friday
The School of Theatre and Dance will present “Measure For Measure” at 7:30 p.m. in the Holmes Student Center, Diversions Lounge. Tickets are $7 for NIU students and can be purchased at bit.ly/1Mdtno2.
You don’t want to miss the women’s volleyball conference game against the Toledo rockets at 7 p.m. in the Convocation Center. Tickets are free with an NIU OneCard. Go Huskies!
Saturday
Chicago group Walsher Clemons Band will make its way to DeKalb. The doors open at 7 p.m., and the show starts at 8 p.m. at the House Café 263 E. Lincoln Highway. Students can count on hearing jazz, rock and some popular jam songs. The Casual Ties, Pistachio Brothers and The Groove will perform with the Walsher Clemons Band.
The Egyptian Theatre, 135 N. Second St., will host The Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis Tribute Show at 7:30 p.m. The show will commemorate the 50s duo who performed shows full of comedy and charm. Tickets are $18.50 and can be purchased at bit.ly/1Hs4VNN .
Sunday
If you’re looking for some music to liven up your Sunday, check out Masked Intruder at 7 p.m. in The House Café. The band will be accompanied by The Copyrights, Not Scientists and Boxsledder.Masked Intruder and The Copyrights focus mainly on pop punk and power-pop while Boxsledder performs solely dungeon punk.
Check out the Jack Olson Gallery 10 a.m. to noon in exhibition room 200 of the Visual Arts Building. High school artwork from the northern Illinois region will be showcased in this annual event. NIU will offer workshops for high school students and faculty 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
