Healthcare scholarship open for local high schoolers
November 19, 2015
The DeKalb County Community Foundation will award the James and Marjorie Lehan Scholarship to graduates at DeKalb and Sycamore High Schools beginning in spring 2016.
The Lehan family has provided healthcare to patients in DeKalb County for the last 70 years, according to a DeKalb County Community Foundation news release. James and his wife created the scholarship to open opportunities for students looking to pursue a career in a healthcare field.
“We know the costs involved [with higher education] and are very excited to be able to help students with that in the coming year,” said Jim Lehan, son of James and Marjorie.
The scholarship will be awarded to one student from each high school, with the hope of the scholarship growing in the future, Lehan said.
Students looking to apply must contact their high school guidance department for applications.
