City police search for serial indecent exposure offender
October 26, 2015
DeKalb Police are looking for a man who has allegedly exposed his genitals to women on the same bike path in four separate incidences.
The four incidences were reported to have occurred between Aug. 17 and Oct. 19 on a path that connects Sycamore Road with N. First Street. In the most recent incident, the individual forced a child to touch him on her way to school.
The individual has been described as 6 feet tall, average build, mid 20s, an undetermined race and an unkempt appearance, according to a DeKalb Police Department news release. He has mostly been seen on foot, but was riding a BMX bike during the most recent incident, according to DeKalb Police.
Police are conducting extra patrols in the area and recommend the following advice:
• Use area bike paths and recreation areas only during daylight hours.
• Run or walk with a friend or group of friends rather than alone.
• If you are in a situation and feel that something is wrong, trust your instincts and try to remove yourself from that situation as soon as possible.
• Carry a mobile phone with you in case you need to make an emergency call.
• Mobile phones are also great for snapping a quick photo or video clip that could help identify somebody during an investigation.
• Stay aware of your surroundings and avoid using earbuds or anything that would make it difficult to hear.
