Devil’s Tongue sprouts at NIU greenhouse

The Konjak plant, also known as the Devil’s Tongue, sits in the Greenhouse Facility on Oct. 8. The Konjak, like the titan arum, gives off an unpleasant smell upon blooming. “It would be good practice to know what to expect when you change a diaper,” said greenhouse supervisor Craig Schultz about smelling the plant. “Yeah, it smells pretty bad.”
