John Heckmann Jr. has been named associate vice president for Facilities Management and Campus Services.

Heckmann will manage the Physical Plant, Building Services and Grounds, among other facilities and services. He comes from a directing position overseeing the delivery of products and services supporting Navy and Marine Corps shore installation infrastructure, according to an NIU Today news release.

“John brings to NIU more than 28 years of experience in the federal government, where he served in a variety of senior facilities management and operations positions,” said Alan Phillips, vice president of Administration and Finance, according to NIU Today. “His extensive background in overseeing resource distribution and management for Department of Defense facilities worldwide has provided him with a diverse skill-set that is well-suited for new role at the university.”
