Today is a day many coffee-addicts have been waiting for. It’s National Coffee Day, and coffee shops across DeKalb are celebrating.

Dunkin’ Donuts

Dunkin’ Donuts, 1101 W. Lincoln Highway, is giving away free medium cups of hot or iced dark roast coffee at participating locations, according to the Dunkin’ Donuts website.

Starbucks

Instead of giving away free coffee, Starbucks is launching a yearlong campaign, Starbucks One Tree for Every Bag Commitment.

For every bag of coffee bought in a Starbucks Store throughout the year, a tree will be planted in a community of need. Starbucks will begin by planting one million trees in farming communities, according to a Starbucks spokesperson.

The House Cafe

While the House Cafe, 263 E Lincoln Highway, is not doing any promotions for National Coffee Day, there are more customers than usual, according to Natasha Gidaszewski, Daytime Events Manager and Barista. “The Barbed Wire is definitely our most popular drink,” Gidaszewski said.
