DeKalb | The Dramatic Studios production company is looking for passionate artists as it prepares for auditions this weekend.

The Dramatic Studios is an organization on campus that offers lessons on singing, dancing, modeling, acting and art, as well as connections to agencies that may book students for professional entertainment jobs.

The organization was created by Jason Warrior, junior media studies major, as a way to give performing artists a platform to do what they love on campus.

“Dramatic Studios was founded to give students the opportunity to express themselves in the arts,” Warrior said. “If you possess a talent, we want to give you the opportunity to share that talent.”

The production company will accept a variety of singers, dancers, actors, models and artists. The audition will be held from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday in the Stevenson Towers, Sunset Room.

“For the audition process, it’s different for every talent, but the professional thing to do would be to have something prepared,” Warrior said.

Knecesia Fraction, sophomore marketing major and secretary of Dramatic Studios, said the organization currently has 30 to 40 people and the executive board is looking to expand the number of participants.

“We’re looking for someone that has passion and shows it and is dedicated and willing to put in the effort,” Fraction said.

Ariell Crenshaw, junior early childhood education major at Kishwaukee College and runway modeling coach for Dramatic Studios, said she is looking for prospective models who are hardworking, passionate and dedicated to their talent.

“Dramatic Studios is a hardworking production company,” Crenshaw said. “We want people that are hardworking and very versatile, as well.”

Warrior said students who are accepted after auditions will be asked to pay a small organizational due of $10 per semester or $20 per year that will cover the cost of lessons, competition entry fees and a Dramatic Studios t-shirt.
