NIU collecting donations for victims of tornadoes in northern Illinois

Student Involvement and Leadership Development is collecting donations for those affected by Thursday’s tornadoes in northern Illinois.
Donations of clothing, food and personal care items will be taken in the Campus Life Building, Suite 150, according to an NIU news release. The towns affected by the tornado are not yet ready for volunteers to come in, but those who wish to help once volunteers are being accepted can sign up online through NIU.
NIU has requested people donate:
- Hand sanitizer
- Water
- Blankets
- Ready-to-eat food
- Baby wipes
- Diapers
- Hand wipes
- First aid items
- Animal food and cages
- Clothes
- Boxes or bins
Donations are also being taken at Bethany Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in DeKalb; the Cortland, Kirkland and Stillman fire departments; Rochelle High School and Rockford Christian Schools.
