Charlee’s Angel Run to benefit families with stillborn babies
March 5, 2015
The American Legion Riders Post 181 will host Charlee’s Angel Run benefiting the Cuddle Cot Campaign Initiative 8:30 a.m. April 25 at 713 S. Main St. in Sandwich.
The Cuddle Cot Campaign is an initiative to have a cuddle cot at every hospital in the United States. A Cuddle Cot allows for bonding and pictures plaster molds to be taken with stillborn babies before the natural changes that occur in death become more apparent, according to Action for Stillbirth Awareness & Prevention Coalition.
Ralph Torres, chairman for what will be the first annual Charlee’s Angel Run, said Charlee, daughter of Nichole Kenyon and Jeffrey Kenyon, is the namesake of the run, Torres said.
Pre-registration for the 5k is $25 and registration is $30 on the day of the event. Registration for the 1-mile fun run is $15 before the event and $20 on the day of the event. All those who pre-register are guaranteed to receive a T-shirt. There will be a butterfly release and silent auctions in conjunction with the event, according to its Facebook page.
Awards will be presented to the first, second and third finishers in their respective age groups.
“We’re hoping for about 100 people for the 5k and 50 or so for the fun run,” Torres said.
