Men’s tennis junior Simon Formont was named MAC Scholar Athlete of the Week, the conference announced Wednesday.

Formont picked up the weekly conference honor for the second time this spring and the third time in his career.

Formont went 2-0 in his No. 2 singles matches this weekend, helping NIU go 2-0 and improve its record to 8-2. He also earned a Sunday win against Southern Illinois-Edwardsville in doubles play with freshman partner Tom Hjertonsson.

Formont, a business administration major, owns a 3.81 GPA. He’s 13-4 overal in 2015 — 7-2 in singles and 6-2 in doubles.

Formont previously earned the conference distinction Jan. 29 and Feb. 5, 2014.
