Softball will hit the road for a single contest away from home today before returning to DeKalb for two weeks.

The Huskies (12-13) will take on the Illinois State Redbirds (13-17) 4 p.m. today at Marian Kneer Stadium in Normal. This will be the 106th meeting between the schools since 1959.

NIU is coming off its home opener, which it lost 3-0 to the North Dakota State Bison on Thursday at Mary M. Bell Field. Following the in-state showdown against Illinois State, the Huskies will return home for a 10-game home stand starting with a doubleheader 1 p.m. Friday.

The Huskies have gone 8-7 in March after going 4-6 in February. NIU is 2-4 in true road games. Illinois State enters having won four of its last five games.
