Women’s tennis was served its first taste of defeat over the weekend as it lost to the Southern Illinois Salukis.

The Huskies (8-1) lost to the Salukis (3-6), 4-3, Saturday in Carbondale. It was NIU’s first road contest since a 4-3 win over the Cleveland State Vikings Jan. 25 in Cleveland, Ohio.

The Huskies failed to pick up the doubles point for the first time this season, which played a big part in their one-point loss. They split the six singles matches with the Salukis.
