Whether you’re a “Hunger Games” fan or just hungry, there’s an event for you this weekend.
Today
Chefs at Ellington’s, a student-run restaurant in the Holmes Student Center, will prepare an Attwell meal, which includes an appetizer, entree and dessert for $10.
The menu features a celeriac soup with crème fraiche and crispy sage, lemon pepper tofu with sautéed vegetables and a lemon-rosemary cake.
Friday
Student groups will hold a tribute concert for D’Angelo, R&B and neo-soul singer, 7 p.m. Friday in the Holmes Student Center, Carl Sandburg Auditorium. The event is free and will feature performances by jazz music group Soul Injection.
Chicago DJ group Trap House will perform 10:30 p.m. at Rosy’s Roadhouse, 930 Pappas Drive.
Saturday
The School of Theatre and Dance will present broadway show “Awake and Sing!” 7:30 p.m. at Huntley Middle School, 1515 S. First Street. Tickets cost $8 and can be purchased at the School of Theatre and Dance box office in the Holmes Student Center.
The Black Student Union will hold its annual Mr. and Miss. Black Student Union Freshman Pageant. The show is 7 p.m. in the Holmes Student Center, Duke Ellington ballroom.
Sunday
Local singers Peter Lindsey and Bill Leighly will perform solo sets 7:00 p.m. at The House Cafe, 263 E. Lincoln Highway. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and admission is $5.
“The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1” will be shown for free 8:30 p.m. in the Holmes Student Center, Carl Sandburg Auditorium.
Lucas Oil Monster Truck Nationals will hold its Bigfoot Birthday Bash 3 p.m. in the Convocation Center. The show will feature stunts performed with five monster trucks, including original monster truck Bigfoot.
