Claudette Day, sophomore track multi-events athlete, took less than one month to reset NIU’s 60-meter hurdles record.

Day ran the 60-meter hurdles in a time of 8.34 seconds Saturday at the Orange & Blue Open at the Illinois Armory in Urbana.

Day previously set the school record for the 60-meter hurdles Jan. 31 at the Jack Johnson Classic in Minneapolis, Minn., with a time of 8.43 seconds. The school record had been held since 2012 by Megan Gregory, who had a time of 8.49.

Up next for Day and NIU is the MAC Indoor Championships Friday and Saturday in Mt. Pleasant, Mich.
