NIU Athletics unveiled today its logo celebrating the 50th anniversary of Huskie Stadium.

The 2015 season will mark the 50 anniversary of Huskie Stadium, NIU’s on-campus football stadium. The stadium opened Nov. 6, 1965, when NIU beat Illinois State, 48-6, on Homecoming.

The logo was created by Rick Cerrone Communications and graphic artist Michael Macchione. The commemorative logo incorporates an image of the west-side grandstands, the current Huskies logo and the number 50.

NIU is 163-96-2 all time at Huskie Stadium and has won 30 of its last 31 games on its home turf.

The Huskies open the 2015 season against the Nevada-Las Vegas Rebels Sept. 5.
