Weekend Guide: Jan. 22

Enjoy the end-of-week break from rain by getting out of the house this weekend. Here are some things happening in DeKalb:

Thursday

Comedian Lewis Black will perform The Rant is Due: Part Deux 8 p.m. at the Egyptian Theatre, 135 N. Second St. Tickets cost $25 for students. Read Scene writer Arthur Aumann’s Q&A with Black on Page 5.

The grand opening reception for art exhibit Nice To Meat You is 6-10 p.m. in the Visual Arts Building’s Gallery 214. The meat-themed exhibit showcases work from artists Jacob Van Loon, Marvin Chan and Charlie E. Newton, among others.

Friday

A free concert event called Drop The Bass is 10 p.m. at Rosy’s Roadhouse, 930 Pappas Drive. The event will feature the headlining band, Filibusta, as well as performances from Goodness Gracious, FREE PiZZV and local deejay Who Cares.

Saturday

Jam bands Brainchild, Rootstand and local band Sheepdog. will perform at The House Cafe, 325 E. Lincoln Highway. Doors open at 7:30 p.m. and the show begins at 8:30 p.m. Tickets cost $8.
