Center uses $2M grant on fellowships

Federal grants awarded to the Center for Southeast Asian Studies will go to fellowships and the center’s foreign language program.
The center will use $2 million in grants, awarded Oct. 7, to provide Foreign Language and Area Studies Fellowships and expand language instruction to community colleges.
The center will distribute nine fellowships to graduate students and four fellowships to undergraduate students, according to an NIU Today news release.
The Center for Southeast Asian Studies has received four other Title VI grants from the U.S. Department of Education since becoming a National Resource Center in 1997.
