Texas Roadhouse will open its doors during the third week of October.

Office manager Toni Boals said there will be a soft opening, meaning there is no grand opening or special event at Texas Roadhouse, 1950 DeKalb Ave.

“We’re just going to open the doors one day and start feeding people,” Boals said.

Texas Roadhouse has a Southern theme and prides itself on steaks, ribs, made-from-scratch sides and fresh-baked bread, according to its website, texasroadhouse.com. The restaurant also serves beer and margaritas.

Sycamore Mayor Ken Mundy said Texas Roadhouse provides a good meal, tax revenue for the city and jobs.

Managing partner “Steve Boals is paying attention to job hiring and training, and he found that the labor pool here is good,” Mundy said. “They didn’t have to hire too many extra people because they found plenty of people here in the area.”

Toni Boals said Steve Boals has been training hires to prepare for the opening.

Mikela Manning, sophomore pre-nursing major, said she is excited for Texas Roadhouse and its ribs.

“I feel like it will be a different environment for students besides Rosy’s or Molly’s,” Manning said. “It’ll be something new in DeKalb.”

Toni Boals said Texas Roadhouse does not take reservations, but there is a call-ahead system. The system works by having callers’ names placed on a list to shorten waiting times.
