Nine men, including six students, face charges after participating in what police described as a large fight at Sigma Alpha Epsilon, 919 Greenbrier Road.

On Sept. 6, a large group of people tried to enter the fraternity, which was hosting a party, but were turned away, police said in a Tuesday news release. The men started arguing and a series of fights broke out between the group and fraternity members, leading to serious head and facial injuries that required medical attention, police said.

Rory Rhynes, 19, of Lynwood, and Lo Angelo Harvey, 19, of Country Club Hills, battered a victim while on a public way, causing significant injury, police said. Rhynes and Lynwood face charges of aggravated battery and warrants have been issued for their arrest.

Other participants in the fight “were identified as mutually fighting, though not causing significant injuries,” according to the police news release. An NIU spokesman said Rashad Barber, 19, of DeKalb; Baaqir Davis, 19, of Richton Park; Justin Johnson, 20, of Cary; Stephen Plotke, 21, of DeKalb; Elijah Graham, 19, of Lansing; and Antoine Jimerson, 18, of Richton Park, are students.

Police increased their presence on Greek Row following the fight.
