Civil Rights Act honored at events

The College of Education will host a Civil Rights Reflection Week symposium and discussion to celebrate the upcoming 50th anniversary of the Civil Rights Act.
An academic symposium on Oct. 21 and alumni panel on Oct. 2 will focus on the history of the Civil Rights Movement as well as civil rights and social justice in today’s higher education system. Both events will feature networking and hors d’oeuvres at 5 p.m., with the symposium and discussion to begin at 6 p.m. on their respective dates at the Barsema Alumni and Visitors Center.
The symposium will feature academic experts who will talk on their experiences with researching issues of civil rights and social justice, with respect to education.
The panel will focus on three educators. The panelists will discuss their careers on developing diversity in education.
