Steam outage to affect 6 buildings

By Northern Star Staff

A steam outage will be in effect Nov. 2-14 for some campus buildings.

The outage is due to emergency repairs planned for the East Heating Plant’s main steam lines, according to an NIU Today news release. The dates are subject to change depending on the arrival of a needed expansion joint. The following buildings will have no heat or hot water during the outage:

• Davis Hall

• Faraday Hall

• LaTourette Hall

• Lowden Hall

• Montgomery Hall

• Psychology/Computer Science Building

While a temperature of 64 degrees will try to be maintained in heated areas, students and faculty in these buildings are advised to dress accordingly. A limited amount of portable heaters can be requested during the outage by calling Construction Superintendent Ken George at 815-753-0388.
