Warm up with tasty tailgating food

These simple stir-and-serve recipes will take your tailgating experience to a whole new level while keeping your warm.

Sweet Southern Chili

What you will need:

• Large pot

• Wooden spoon

• Strainer

• 2 pounds ground beef

• 1 can kidney beans

• 2 cans of Coca-Cola or Pepsi

• 2 cans of French onion soup

• 2 cans of tomato paste

• 2 cans of tomato sauce

• 1/4 cup light brown sugar

• 4 tablespoons cumin

• 2 tablespoons chili powder

• 2 teaspoons unsweetened cocoa powder

• 1 teaspoon black ground pepper

• 1 teaspoon garlic (minced)

Optional Additions:

• Cheddar cheese (cubed or shredded)

• Oyster crackers

• Sour cream

What to do:

1. In the large pot, brown the ground beef on medium-high heat.

2. Drain off the fat and grease. Do not pour it down your sink drain or it will clog your pipes once it solidifies.

3. Add the remaining ingredients.

4. Let simmer for 30 minutes on medium heat.

5. Serve while hot.

Potato Corn Chowder

What you will need:

• Large pot

• Wooden spoon

• Peeler

• 2 cups cooked honey ham

• 4 cups potatoes

• 1 medium-sized yellow onion

• 2 cans corn

• 2 cans creamed corn

• 1 quart half and half

• 1/4 cup butter

• 2 1/2 teaspoons salt

• 1/4 teaspoon pepper

• 1 cup water

• 1 cup milk

What to do:

1. Peel potatoes and cut them into 1-inch cubes.

2. Cut ham into 1-inch cubes.

3. Dice onion.

4. Place potatoes, onions and water into a large pot at high heat.

5. Boil and simmer for 10 minutes or until potatoes are tender.

6. Add the remaining ingredients to the pot.

7. Lower heat to medium and let sit for 20 minutes.
