Prescription drug dropoff available
September 21, 2014
The DeKalb Police Department will participate in National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday in the department’s parking lot, 700 W. Lincoln Highway.
DeKalb residents can anonymously dispose of unwanted, unused or expired prescription drugs for free. Liquid medications and syringes will not be accepted.
Medication disposal can prevent prescription drug abuse and help keep waterways uncontaminated as a result of flushing unwanted pills, according to a DeKalb Police Department news release. The program has removed 1.5 million pounds of medication nationwide since its creation, according to the police.
