What’s your opinion on NIU’s redesigned webpage for current students?

The update to NIU.edu’s Current Student portal provides much more clarity than the prior page.

The page’s list layout is easier to read than the boxed-off sections before the change.

The best part of the Current Student update is the helpful descriptions under each category. Many students still don’t know basic information about the university.

The descriptions should be put in the Future Student page for those interested in NIU, as well.

NIU should continue updating its website other parts of its site.

Change is good, but NIU’s redesign of its Current Students page is unnecessary.

The redesign highlights links on academics, campus, sports, resources and finances. The older version had a condensed version of these topics, but with added calendar events and important news.

Aesthetically, it doesn’t work for me. It looks like a long list of links instead of helpful boxes that grouped essential information.

It may be great for new students, but for students who want to get to a quick link, it’s a bit of a pain.

The redesigned website appears more sleek and organized than its predecessor.

NIU’s previous webpage was cluttered with unnecessary information I rarely used as an upperclassman. The only links I needed were Blackboard, MyNIU and Student Email.

The webpage benefits from removing overabundant information that many students probably weren’t even using.

The new portal prioritizes student needs while keeping the essential links.

I use NIU’s website a lot and I am pleased with the changes it’s made over the summer.

I think the new website is more accessible and it’s easier to find what you’re looking for. The layout is better to look at, too.

I also find the website’s new layout more organized than it was in the spring. I know exactly where to go to find what I need.

It’ll take the current students time to get used to the new layout, but once people get the hang of it, I think they’ll agree that changing the website was a good choice.
