Although grilling desserts sounds like a complicated and sticky event, with these simple instructions you can enjoy three tasty treats without dealing with the mess.
Banana boat s’more
For those who constantly crave s’mores, a twist to this summer staple is a grilled banana boat s’more. Four servings require four medium ripe bananas, 1/2 cup of chocolate chips, 1/2 cup of mini marshmallows and 1/2 cup of Golden Grahams cereal. Graham crackers can be substituted in place of the cereal.
Cut four 12-inch sheets of aluminum foil. Slice into the banana from top to bottom. Then place two tablespoons of chocolate chips, marshmallows and graham into the slice. Wrap the banana in foil and place on your grill for eight to 10 minutes. Make sure to let the treat cool off.
Cherry cobbler with pound cake topper
There a lot of ingredients for this recipe. You’ll need a 1/2 cup granulated sugar, 2 tablespoons of cornstarch, 6 cups of red cherries, 1/4 teaspoon of almond extract, 1/2 of an 8 ounce softened pack of cream cheese, 2 tablespoons of packed brown sugar, 1 tablespoon lemon juice, 1 loaf of frozen pound cake and 2 tablespoons melted butter. After you’ve emptied your pantry gathering all these ingredients, you’re ready to start cooking.
The first step is to combine the granulated sugar and cornstarch in a large saucepan and stir in the cherries. Cook and stir the mixture until it is thick and bubbly. Once it reaches this point, remove your treat from the heat and mix in the almond extract. In a small bowl, beat together the cream cheese, lemon juice and brown sugar with an electric mixer until smooth.
Then spoon half the fruit mixture into a 2-quart disposable foil pan. Dollop cream cheese mixture over the fruit mixture in the foil pan. Spoon the remaining mixtures and cover the pan tightly with foil.
On the grill, arrange medium-hot coals around edge. Place the foil pan in the center of the grill on a rack. Cover and grill for 15 minutes. Uncover the pan and sprinkle the top of your fruit mixture with crumbled cake pieces and drizzle it with melted butter. Grill it for another 10 minutes. Let it cool on a wire rack for a half hour. Serve warm with vanilla ice cream on the side. Today is your cheat day for your diet.
Dessert kabobs
These delicious snacks can include any type of fruit you like while creating your concoction. Some choices for it include strawberries, nectarines, peaches and bananas. Don’t be afraid to try pound cake, angel food cake and rice krispie treats. Cut your desired fruit into thick slices. Place the combination on a kabob stick. Grill the kabobs for about five minutes. Drizzle them with warmed chocolate sauce. Are you drooling yet? This sweet treat goes great with ice cream on the side.
